Space-Saving Innovation: Rescue Devices and the Bell 412 Helicopter

When it comes to life-saving missions, every inch of space in a rescue helicopter matters. We often get asked about space management and if the Vita Rescue System (VRS) along with a rescue basket will fit through the door and in the cabin of the helicopter. With advanced technology and life saving solutions at the heart of Vita Aerospace, we are always looking for the latest solutions that make missions easier, not more complicated. Read more to see how we solved a common problem with advanced solutions!

hen it comes to life-saving missions, every inch of space in a rescue helicopter matters.

An agency recently faced a challenge when looking to fit a standard rescue basket along with the Vita Rescue System into the cabin of their Bell 412 helicopter - along with all of the other necessary equipment. The Bell 412 helicopter is a workhorse for various emergency services, including search and rescue operations. However, one common issue that many helicopter units face with almost any helicopter is limited cabin space. With a standard rescue basket, accommodating both the equipment and the rescue personnel becomes a logistical puzzle. The agency needed a solution to optimize cabin space without compromising on safety and rescue capabilities.

While the Vita Rescue System is a compact and efficient hoist stabilization technology, attached to standard sized rescue baskets can add additional inches. However, the VRS combined with the new collapsible Life Saving Systems (LSC495L) rescue basket not only allows for easier transport, but it also actually measures in at ½ inch shorter than a regular rescue basket alone during use.  When not in use, the agency is able to save 3.5” by using the collapsible model with the VRS still attached and ready for the next mission.  Adding advanced, precision-control technology while saving room in the cabin is definitely a win-win!

The Vita Rescue System

The Vita Rescue System is a game-changer in the field of helicopter rescues. It is designed to provide hoist stabilization, in any environment and any mission. Vita's technology is compact, easy to install, and highly effective in preventing swing and spin of the hoist cable, making it a crucial addition to any rescue mission.

The Collapsible LSC495L Rescue Basket

Life Saving Systems' collapsible rescue basket, the LSC495L, is designed with space-saving in mind. It can be folded into a compact shape, which significantly reduces its footprint in the helicopter's cabin. This innovation alone helps to maximize available space without compromising on the quality and functionality of the rescue basket.

The Perfect Synergy

The Vita Rescue System, being compact and unobtrusive, can be easily integrated with the LSC495L basket. This means that the agency can have the benefits of hoist stabilization technology with them at all times, no matter the type of rescue operation.
